Link in Bio Custom Domain: What Every Tool Charges (2026)

Linktree and Stan Store do not offer a custom domain on any plan, and neither one provides a workaround that keeps your URL. The cheapest tool that does is Carrd at $19 a year. Most link in bio tools put a custom domain on their entry paid tier, at roughly $100 to $120 a year.

What does a custom domain cost on each link in bio tool?

Three things the numbers alone hide:

• Carrd's "$9 a year" is not the custom domain plan. That is Pro Lite, which excludes domains, forms and analytics. The cheapest Carrd tier with a domain is Pro Standard at $19 a year, as our Carrd pricing breakdown sets out. Carrd is a one-page site builder rather than a bio-link tool, but it is the cheapest answer, so it belongs here.
• Lnk.Bio sells the domain, not a plan containing it. $39.99 a year buys the connection and nothing else, on top of whatever tier you are on. On its free plan that is $39.99 all in, the second-cheapest route here, yet as a line item it is the priciest domain in the table: everywhere else the domain arrives bundled with features you were buying anyway.
• Hopp by Wix publishes no prices at all. Its pricing page returns a password-gated guest area instead of a plan table; rates appear only inside an account. G2's listing, dated April 2025, shows an Ultimate tier at $9.99 a month, which is third-party and stale rather than Hopp's price. Our Hopp by Wix review covers what is verifiable.

When not to pick Linkero

If you want the cheapest possible domain and no bio-link layout, Carrd at $19 a year beats everything here, ours included. If you sell digital products and want the storefront and the domain in one tool, Beacons Creator fits better. Linkero suits multiple pages plus a domain and analytics on one paid tier, and it is the wrong pick if a static one-page site would do.

Which tools have no custom domain at all?

Two, and they are the two biggest names on the list.

Linktree. Its help centre article "Can I change the Linktree URL to a custom domain?" says, in full: "We don't offer the option to use a custom domain to replace the linktr.ee URL. We also don't provide developer tools for setting up domain forwarding." That second sentence is the one most comparisons miss: it rules out the do-it-yourself workaround as well as the feature. The suggested alternative is a Redirect link, which routes visitors through your domain and lands them on linktr.ee/yourname, so the address they end up looking at is still Linktree's. Stan Store. Just as direct: "As of now, you cannot create or embed a custom domain into your Stan Store. Your Stan Store URL will be stan.store/yourusername." A second article adds that the URL "will always remain Stan.store/yourusername." If a URL you own is non-negotiable, those two are out before you compare anything else about them.

What is the .bio domain?

.bio is a top-level domain, the same kind of thing as .com, registered at an ordinary registrar for whatever that registrar charges. It caught on for bio pages for the obvious reason: yourname.bio reads as one without a subdomain in front.

Three things get confused constantly, because all three appear on this search results page. .bio is a domain extension. Lnk.Bio is a link in bio tool. Bio Link (bio.link) is a different link in bio tool. A .bio domain ties you to none of them, and connecting one is the same DNS job as a .com.

They overlap in one place: Lnk.Bio's Unique plan, $24.99 one time, bundles a free .bio domain for the first year. That is a registration, not the $39.99 a year connection add-on above.

Is Lnk.Bio better than Linktree for a custom domain?

On this one question, yes, and not narrowly: Linktree connects no domain at any price, and Lnk.Bio will connect yours.

The caveat is the billing. Lnk.Bio charges $39.99 a year as a standalone add-on rather than folding the domain into a tier, so it recurs whether or not you upgrade. Setup is one DNS record, SSL is included, and your DNS stays under your control. That makes it cheaper than a plan upgrade if the URL is all you want, and worse value if you were paying for features anyway.

Why does a custom domain matter?

Ownership. If your audience knows you as linktr.ee/yourname, switching tools means updating every business card, podcast mention and Instagram highlight; with your own domain it is one DNS record. Backlinks build your authority rather than Linktree's, and the browser tab becomes yours, which is a good moment for our free favicon generator. Taken further, that portability argument is what pushes people toward self-hosting a bio page.

How do you connect a custom domain to your bio page?

You need a registered domain, access to its DNS settings, and a paid plan on whichever tool you picked. Budget fifteen minutes plus propagation.

1. Add the domain in your tool's settings. In Linkero, open workspace settings and find the Domain section. A subdomain (links.yourdomain.com) is marginally simpler than a root domain; both work. Saving shows you the DNS values to copy.

2. Add the DNS record at your registrar. For a subdomain, a CNAME with links (or your prefix) in the Name field and your tool's target in the Value field. For a root domain, an A record with @ in the Name field and the IP your tool provides. TTL 3600 or Auto. Registrars file this under DNS, DNS Management or Advanced DNS.

Cloudflare users: set the record to DNS only (grey cloud) during setup, because proxied mode blocks SSL provisioning. Re-enable it once the domain verifies.

3. Wait for propagation and SSL. The certificate issues automatically once the record resolves, which is what puts the padlock in the address bar. Propagation is usually 5 to 30 minutes, occasionally 48 hours with a high TTL; whatsmydns.net shows what resolvers worldwide see.

Why isn't my custom domain working?

• "This domain is already in use." It is attached to another account, often an older one of your own. Remove it there first.
• SSL never provisions. On Cloudflare this is nearly always proxied mode. Switch to DNS only and wait a few minutes.
• "This site can't be reached" after 30 minutes. Check the Name field for the classic typo: for links.yourdomain.com you enter links, not the whole hostname. The registrar appends the root domain itself.
• A CAA record is blocking the certificate. Add an entry permitting Let's Encrypt. Most personal domains have no CAA record at all.

How do you move a custom domain from another tool?

If your domain points at Beacons, Milkshake, Liinks, Lnk.Bio or Bio Link, this order avoids downtime: finish the new page, add the domain in the new tool, update the DNS record, wait for propagation, and only then remove it from the old provider.
